Quill is a small studio run by Heidi. With a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and a lifetime of creating, you can be sure of the best result possible every time!

the beginning...

Ever heard of ‘quilling’? Yeah, neither had I.

Looking through the library when I was about 10 years old, I stumbled across a book on quilling and immediately had to try it. I would literally sit at home for hours cutting pieces of paper into strips and rolling them up into amazing shapes and pictures. Thank goodness, I eventually discovered you could buy pre-cut paper!

Growing up in a tiny country town, I didn’t have a lot of resources to learn much about digital design before heading to uni, but what I did discover was a love for painting and paper. Almost for as long as I can remember I’ve been drawing, painting, sewing or just creating in some way. My mother was an amazing sketcher and I am forever thankful for the time she spent teaching me to draw and encouraging me.

and today

Today, I am married to an amazingly supportive man who backs all my crazy ideas and dog mum to two (very naughty) fur babies.

I am quickly finding my passion for integrating hand made elements into digital design. Studying at uni gave me so many tools to create digital design but for a while that meant that I lost my roots. I didn’t get to use my hands anymore and well, really that’s where my heart lies. Though the end result may look very digital sometimes, the beginnings are all the same – sketch, paint, scan!
